About Richard Willars

I’m a 19 year old web developer and entrepreneur from Leicestershire, England, UK. Ever since I was a young teenager, I’ve been passionate about the Internet. Since then, I’ve gone on to study a degree in Web Development at Staffordshire University and also run two companies, both of which heavily revolve around the Internet.

After completing my A-levels I developed a real passion for creating exciting, useable and functional websites. After completing 2 years of voluntary projects for organisations such as Escouts, I thought I’d use my rapidly developing web skills and creative ideas to run a company.

In 2004, I established WebServ UK with fellow directors Richard Nevin and Dave Troop, with the aim of providing high quality web based services such as hosting, website design, domains and email to both home users and companies. I occassionally design web applications for other companies and organisations via WebServ UK, my most recognisable to date being StudentOlé and Escouts. Every day WebServ UK is growing from strength to strength, and I hope to be in this exciting and friendly company for many years to come.

2004 seemed to be an important year in my life. Not only was I getting my first taste of running a business, but I also started to develop interesting web applications. The one that is primarily on my mind as I’m writing this, is the project which became a company in 2007 - RouteHiker. The project was originally developed on Escouts and known as Escouts Route Hiker.

Whenever people ask me what I’m up to these days, I love being able to reply by saying I run two companies AND am at university doing a full time degree. Yes, it’s a lot of work… many of my friends can vouch for that, but in the end, I believe it’s worth it.

Anyway, thanks for visiting my website.. I hope that you come across something that is useful to you and I’d love to hear from you!
